TAE KWON DO FORMS


The Rules for Performing Forms:

  • Form should begin and end at the same point
  • Correct posture and facing should be maintained at all times
  • The muscles of the body should be tensed or relaxed at the critical moments in the exercise
  • The exercise should be performed in a rhythmic manner without stiffness
  • Know the purpose of each movement
  • Perform each movement with realism

    There are eight Tae Geuk forms until the black belt (one for each belt - Geup).

  • Tae Geuk Il Jang - The 1st Tae Geuk Form
  • Tae Geuk Ee Jang - The 2nd Tae Geuk Form
  • Tae Geuk Sam Jang - The 3rd Tae Geuk Form
  • Tae Geuk Sa Jang - The 4th Tae Geuk Form
  • Tae Geuk Oh Jang - The 5th Tae Geuk Form
  • Tae Geuk Uke Jang - The 6th Tae Geuk Form
  • Tae Geuk Chil Jang - The 7th Tae Geuk Form
  • Tae Geuk Pal Jang - The 8th Tae Geuk Form

    Forms for achieving black belt DAN ranks are:

  • Koryo - For the 1st Dan
  • Kumgang - For the 2nd Dan
  • Taebak - For the 3rd Dan
  • Pyongwon - For the 4th Dan
  • Shipjin - For the 5th Dan
  • Jitae - For the 6th Dan
  • Chunkwon - For the 7th Dan
  • Hansoo - For the 8th Dan
  • Ilyeo - For the 9th Dan
