Infantry is the backbone of every army. You can't hold ground without infantry. This was a huge problem for German army during the WW2 - troops had to stay on occupied terrains to guard the infrastructure, fight with ressistance... instead of engaging on front lines where they were needed the most. But, we guess this kind of difficulties experienced all aggressors in history.

INFANTRY WEAPONS:

1) RIFLES (Mauser, Mosin-Nagant 1891, STV40...) - have long range and are good for attacking the enemy at distances bigger than 50m, although they are not very accurate. If you mount a scope on rifle, you'll get a sniper rifle - more precise rifle which can be very lethal. On some rifles soldiers can put rifle grenades - small bombs which are shot from the rifle's top. Large AT rifles have greater firepower and accuracy. Because they aren't effective against all but light tanks, you should apply them as excellent long range sniper weapons!

No passaran!

2) SUB MACHINE GUNS (MP40, PPSh41, PPs43) - are automatic weapons with quite limited range - up to 100m. Still, they are light and can be moved very fast. SMGs are effective in urban battles and must be carried by main attacking troops.

3) MACHINE GUNS (MG) - have many ammo and can provide good support for a long time. They shoot in bursts and are very effective against infantry and light vehicles at long ranges! Heavy MGs are heavier (of course) and carry more ammunition, but are very slow - actually, you shouldn't try to move them around at all! Light and assault MG's are easier and they provide good fire support for attacking infantry units, because they can be transfered from one side of the map to another quite fast. If you use AT guns, make sure you have at least one MG team nearby to protect them. It's also smart to have a MG covering the open areas where enemy troops must get across - damn enemy soldiers will fall one by one!

Heavy machine gun

4) HAND GRENADES, EXPLOSIVES, PANZERBUSCHE...- almost all units have hand grenades which are very usefull against infantry in houses, bunkers and trenches. Explosives are used in the same purpose, but are more powerfull and can destroy even medium tanks. The bad thing is that soldier who throws a demo charge usually kills other team members if gets shot. "Heft Hohladung" and "Panzerbusche" are AT weapons, but can't harm anything heavier than light tanks. Molotovs are simple improvized bombs - petrol in a bottle and something that burns in the bottle's neck. Soldiers use them in the same way as grenades, but they're better against armored vehicles.

Engineers making hell

"Panzerfaust" - look under "Support". How to use infantry is described under "Tactics" section.
