This is probably the hardest environment to fight in - you can see
just a few meters in front of your troops, the enemy can show up anywhere, guns can't see
a damn thing, tanks (especially in RR) get tracked (immobilized) very easily... In this
unfriendly environment, FLAMETHROWERS become the most deadly weapons! |
|
Flamethrower is exactly what you need in a forest. Mounted on a tank,
or carried by infantry men, it's a terror weapon whatever you must encounter among the
trees. But they alone can't do the job because their fuel tanks are heavy and they move
slow. That's the reason why scouts must be AT LEAST 10 meters in front of any flamethrower
infantry team or tank that you use. |

If SCOUTING is crucial in urban war, this goes even
double in the woods! When you find enemy troops, shoot on them with flamethrowers. They'll
die before they've realized what happened! If you encounter a tank, burn it with
flamethrower, too. The problem is that most of the time you won't be able to aim the enemy
directly, but that's not a big problem! You will be surprised when you see what a
flamethrower can do if you shoot next (NEAR) to enemy troops! If you immobilize his tanks,
don't try to kill them unless you can't reach your goal without doing that! That's waste
of ammo because an immobilized tank in the woods can fire just a few meters around, and is
totally unusable. You can simply avoid it and save the valuable ammo for other, more
dangerous targets. |
|
Like said, AT guns are not good in woods because of bad LOS, so do
not engage them only to sit on their ass and hope that enemy will come just in front
of them! Mortars aren't very effective because the cover in the forest is great, and it
will be hard to kill anything with them. Heavy tanks are real waste of requisition points
- they are too slow and they can't use their huge firepower here. They also get
immobilized quickly. Definately, tank is not a perfect weapon for battle in the woods. |
